Parents Globally Are Now Refusing Smartphones To Their Kids
🌞 Happy Friday, Parent!
Whew, it’s almost the weekend.
On today’s edition, we’re taking a step back from the kiddies to focus on you - the Super Parent. We have Parent Health special on fertility and ovulation cycles - especially for those interested in trying out home insemination.
And there’s also a global, no-smartphone-for-the-kids movement. What’s all that about?
PARENTING TRENDS
FEATURED
The tablet-parenting movement has definitely raised some hairs across the board. But could it be more detrimental than helpful? Is classic parenting the way to go forward?
“One study found young people who acquired smartphones at an early age reported worse mental health outcomes.”

Are you planning a pregnancy with home insemination?
With home insemination, you can significantly raise your chances of a conception by tracking your ovulation. But since the 28-day cycle can get a little tricky, here are some tips to help you stay on tail of your best days :
1. Ovulation Prediction Kits (OPKs)
How They Work: OPKs detect the surge in luteinizing hormone (LH) that occurs just before ovulation - which means ovulation is likely to within the next 12-36 hours.
2. Basal Body Temperature (BBT) Charting
How It Works: BBT tracking involves measuring your body temperature first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. A slight increase in BBT usually occurs after ovulation due to increased progesterone levels.
3. Cervical Mucus Monitoring
How It Works: Changes in cervical mucus can indicate approaching ovulation. During ovulation, cervical mucus becomes clear, stretchy, and egg-white in consistency, similar to raw egg whites.
4. Fertility Apps
How They Work:Fertility apps use algorithms to predict ovulation based on your menstrual cycle data and other inputs.
5. Wearable Devices
How They Work: Some wearable devices track physiological signs like basal body temperature, heart rate, and skin temperature to predict ovulation.
Tips for Effective Ovulation Tracking:
Combine Methods: Get more accurate predictions when you use different prediction methods together.
Start Early: This can help you understand your ovulation pattern and make adjustments as needed.
Be Consistent: For the most accurate results, follow the same procedures each day and at the same times.
Consult a Healthcare Provider: Everyone has a different cycle - some easier than the other. It’s always best to go to your GP or OB/GYN for the best advice.
